ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how flares of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), which can cause increased pain and inflammation, might lead to muscle loss in patients. Researchers believe that when RA flares up, inflammation and reduced movement can lead to muscle wasting, which can affect mobility and overall quality of life. To explore this, the study will investigate whether taking nutritional supplements, specifically amino acids, during and after these flares can help maintain muscle health and improve daily functioning for people with RA.
To participate in this trial, individuals must have been diagnosed with a flare of rheumatoid arthritis. However, there are some exclusions, such as those with certain health conditions that affect muscles or those who have had recent surgeries. Participants will be randomly assigned to either receive standard care or the nutritional supplements, and their muscle health and disease activity will be monitored over three months. This study aims to provide valuable insights into managing muscle health in RA and potentially improve the quality of life for those living with the condition.
