ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different methods for placing a special breathing tube called a double-lumen tube (DLT) in patients who are having thoracic surgery. The DLT is used to help doctors ventilate one lung while keeping the other lung inactive during surgery. The trial will compare the traditional direct laryngoscopy method, which uses a special tool to help see the airway, with a newer method called videolaryngoscopy, which uses a camera to provide a better view on a screen. Researchers want to find out which method makes it easier and more successful to place the DLT.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be at least 18 years old and scheduled for thoracic surgery that requires intubation with a double-lumen tube. Pregnant or breastfeeding women and individuals who cannot understand the study's purpose are not eligible. If you join the trial, you can expect to be randomly assigned to one of the two methods of intubation, and your doctors will monitor the process closely to ensure your safety and comfort.
