ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the effectiveness of a mobile application designed to educate families about epilepsy. The app, called MEEP, provides information, helps track symptoms, and reminds families about medical appointments. Researchers want to see if using this app can reduce anxiety and improve knowledge about epilepsy for caregivers of children aged 1 to 17 who have been diagnosed with the condition for at least two months. The trial will compare the experiences of those using the app to those receiving standard support from the hospital.

To participate, caregivers must be comfortable communicating in English or French, and they need to use a smartphone regularly. The study will involve 72 caregivers, divided into two groups: one will use the MEEP app, while the other will continue with the usual education services. Participants will complete questionnaires before and three weeks after the seven-week program to help researchers understand the impact of the app. This trial is currently recruiting participants at the Pediatric Neurology Clinic of the Montreal Children's Hospital.
