ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at two different surgical methods to treat pterygium, which is an abnormal growth on the surface of the eye. The researchers want to see if using a special type of tissue called an amniotic membrane, combined with stem cells, can help improve the success of the surgery and reduce the chances of pterygium returning after treatment.
To participate in the study, candidates need to be adults aged 65 to 74 with a specific type of pterygium that is larger than 2mm. Participants must also be able to attend follow-up appointments throughout the study and agree to take part by signing a consent form. However, individuals with certain health conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis or previous eye surgeries, will not be eligible. If you choose to take part, you can expect to undergo one of the surgical techniques being studied and will be monitored closely for results and any potential side effects.
