ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how two different ways of placing a breathing tube can affect morbidly obese patients who are having a specific weight-loss surgery called sleeve gastrectomy. The researchers want to compare using a special breathing tube that comes with a device called a stylet (which helps shape the tube) against using the breathing tube alone. This study is important because it aims to find out which method might make the intubation process easier and safer for patients who are at higher risk due to their obesity.
To participate in this trial, individuals should be between the ages of 18 and 65, have a body mass index (BMI) over 30, and be in good health (classified as ASA physical status I to III). Participants will need to agree to the study by giving written consent. If someone has a lower BMI, is in poorer health, or cannot cooperate with the study procedures, they will not be eligible. While the trial is not yet recruiting participants, those who qualify can expect to undergo the surgery with either of the two methods being studied, helping researchers learn more about the best practices for intubation in morbidly obese patients.
