ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different surgical methods for treating a condition called distal penile hypospadias, which is when the opening of the urethra is not located at the tip of the penis. The trial is comparing the traditional Snodgrass repair to a modified version called grafted Snodgrass repair, specifically for patients who have a urethral plate that is less than 8mm wide. The goal is to see which method leads to better outcomes for boys with this condition.
To participate in the trial, boys aged 6 months to 16 years with certain types of distal penile hypospadias may be eligible, especially if they have not had previous surgery for this issue and have a urethral plate that meets the size requirement. Boys with more severe forms of hypospadias or those who have had previous repairs are not eligible. Participants can expect to undergo either of the two surgical procedures, and the research team will monitor their recovery and results to determine which method works best. This trial is currently looking for participants, and it aims to improve treatment options for boys with hypospadias.
