ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at whether using laser hair removal can help prevent pilonidal disease from coming back in young patients with darker skin. Pilonidal disease is a condition that can cause painful cysts near the tailbone, and the study aims to see if removing hair in that area can make a difference in how often these cysts return. The trial is for boys and girls aged 10 to 21 who have been diagnosed with this condition and have darker skin types (Fitzpatrick skin types IV, V, or VI).
If you or someone you know is eligible and chooses to participate, you will be randomly assigned to receive either the laser treatment or not, and then monitored to see how effective it is in preventing the disease from coming back. It’s important to know that if you have an active infection or are sensitive to light, you won't be able to join the study until those issues are resolved. This trial is currently not recruiting participants yet, but it aims to gather valuable information that could help improve treatment options for young patients with pilonidal disease.
