ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a technique called sequential Eustachian tube maneuvers to see if it can help prevent ear problems, known as barotrauma, during hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Barotrauma can cause discomfort, pain, and even damage to the eardrum, making it a common reason why patients might stop their treatment in the hyperbaric chamber. The goal of this study is to find out if these special maneuvers can reduce the risk of ear injuries in patients receiving this type of therapy.
To participate in this trial, patients must be having their first hyperbaric session and should be able to perform simple equalization maneuvers, which are techniques to balance the pressure in the ears. However, those who cannot understand these maneuvers or have certain ear conditions will not be eligible. If you join the study, you will learn how to do these maneuvers and will be monitored to see if they help reduce ear problems during your treatment. The trial is currently active but not recruiting new participants.
