ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a method called physiological umbilical cord clamping (PFC) for newborns with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH). CDH is a condition where a baby's diaphragm doesn't fully close, allowing organs from the abdomen to move into the chest cavity, which can lead to serious breathing problems at birth. The trial aims to see if delaying the clamping of the umbilical cord until after the baby has taken their first breaths can help improve their heart and lung function, potentially reducing complications like low oxygen levels and high blood pressure in the lungs.
To participate in this trial, babies must be diagnosed with CDH before birth, be at least 34 weeks old, and have their parents provide consent. Unfortunately, babies with multiple births, serious birth defects, or those born by emergency cesarean section are not eligible. If your baby qualifies, they will be part of a study that aims to improve their care and outcomes during the crucial first hours after birth. This research is important as it could lead to better treatment methods for newborns facing these challenges.
