ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how virtual appointments can help patients wear their Twin Block appliances more consistently. The Twin Block is a type of orthodontic device used to correct bite issues, and proper wear is crucial for it to be effective. In this study, young patients who need a Twin Block will be divided into two groups. One group will receive regular instructions and information about their device, while the other group will also have virtual appointments where they can discuss their experiences and receive additional support using visual aids.
To participate, you need to be a boy aged 11-14 or a girl aged 10-13 at the start of the treatment, have a specific type of bite problem, and have access to a smartphone with a camera and microphone. Patients currently using another type of fixed orthodontic appliance won't be included. Throughout the trial, the researchers will measure how long the Twin Block is worn by using a special sensor in the device and check on changes in the patient's bite during regular follow-up visits. This study aims to see if the extra virtual support makes a difference in how well participants follow the instructions for wearing their Twin Block.
