ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a new way to help patients with dry mouth and thirst who have an endotracheal tube, which is a tube placed in the throat to help with breathing. The researchers want to see if using frozen gauze that is cooled to 4°C (about 39°F) and soaked in a saltwater solution can make these patients feel more comfortable. The trial has not started yet, and they are planning to include adults aged 18 and older who are receiving endotracheal intubation and are willing to participate.
To be part of this study, patients must not have a history of head and neck cancer, and they should not have any oral issues like swelling or bleeding that would make it hard to place the gauze. Participants can expect to receive this experimental treatment and help researchers learn more about how to improve comfort for people with breathing tubes. If you or a family member are interested and meet the criteria, this might be a chance to contribute to important medical research.
