ClinConnect Summary
The ENERGYCO Study is a research project aimed at understanding how cycling to school can improve health in adolescents. The study will look at different ways students commute, such as walking, cycling, or using motorized vehicles, and measure how much energy they use during these activities. In the second part of the study, the focus will be on a school-based cycling program to see how it affects various health aspects, including energy levels, physical fitness, body composition, and even mental well-being.
To participate in this study, students need to be from a school that has a designated area for parking bicycles and does not provide a specific bus route. Additionally, there should be enough students willing to join, with parental consent. If eligible, participants can expect to take part in activities that encourage cycling and other forms of physical exercise while contributing to valuable research that could help improve health programs for young people.
