ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating whether a specific breathing technique called the 4-7-8 breathing method can help reduce shoulder pain and improve breathing function in patients after undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy, which is a minimally invasive surgery to remove the gallbladder. The study involves 96 patients who will be randomly divided into two groups. One group will practice the 4-7-8 breathing technique after their surgery, while the other group will receive standard care without the breathing exercise. The researchers will check on the patients' shoulder pain and breathing ability within the first 24 hours after surgery and again when they are discharged from the hospital.
To participate in this study, patients must be at least 18 years old and scheduled for elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy. They should be able to communicate and understand Turkish, and they must agree to take part in the study. Patients who are in emergency situations, have mental impairments, or will be discharged on the same day of surgery are not eligible. If you or a loved one meet these criteria and are interested in joining the study, you can expect to learn a helpful breathing technique that may ease discomfort and improve recovery after surgery.
