ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how to better manage the amount of fluid given to patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) who need extra support due to low blood circulation. Sometimes, giving too much fluid can lead to serious problems, including swelling and strain on organs like the lungs and kidneys. The researchers want to find out if using ultrasound technology during a simple test called passive leg raising can help predict how well a patient will tolerate additional fluid. This is important because understanding fluid tolerance can help doctors make safer treatment decisions.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be adults who are currently in the ICU and need extra fluid support. They must also provide consent or have a family member or health proxy do so if they are unable to. However, certain individuals, such as those under legal protection or pregnant women, cannot participate. If someone joins the study, they can expect to undergo ultrasound assessments and participate in the passive leg raising test to help determine their fluid tolerance. The findings from this trial could lead to improved care for ICU patients and reduce the risks associated with fluid overload.
