ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating the best type of anesthesia to use during surgery for boys with a condition called hypospadias, which affects the urethra. The study is comparing two types of anesthesia: caudal anesthesia, which numbs the lower body, and a dorsal penile block, which specifically numbs the penis. The researchers want to find out if one type of anesthesia leads to fewer complications after surgery, such as issues with healing.
To be eligible for this trial, boys need to be between 6 months and 4 years old and have a specific type of hypospadias called distal hypospadias. Boys with more complicated forms of hypospadias or those who have had previous surgeries or certain health issues cannot participate. If chosen for the study, participants will receive one of the two types of anesthesia during their surgery, and doctors will monitor their recovery to see how well they heal. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it aims to help improve surgical outcomes for future patients.
