ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking into how two different treatments for a common dental problem, called irreversible pulpitis, affect pain levels and the quality of life related to oral health in children. Specifically, the study compares a procedure called complete pulpotomy, where the damaged part of the tooth is removed and the tooth is then capped with a stainless steel crown, to simply extracting (removing) the tooth altogether.
To be eligible for this trial, children must be between 8 and 9.5 years old and have decayed first permanent molars that are causing discomfort. The study is not looking for children who have other health issues, are allergic to certain dental materials, or cannot attend follow-up appointments. Participants can expect to receive either of the two treatments and will be monitored afterward to assess their pain and how well they feel about their oral health. This trial is important because it aims to find out which treatment might be better for managing pain and improving the overall experience for children with this dental condition.
