ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a treatment called Transauricular Vagal Nerve Stimulation, which is a technique that may help reduce confusion and delirium in older patients after surgery. The goal is to see if this method can safely improve recovery in elderly patients who are having elective surgeries that last at least two hours and will require a hospital stay of four days or more. This research aims to gather important information to prepare for a larger study in the future.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be at least 65 years old and must be planning to undergo a qualifying surgery. However, individuals who are scheduled for certain types of surgeries, like brain or heart surgeries, or who have severe health issues may not be able to participate. If you join the study, you will receive the vagus nerve stimulation treatment during your hospital stay, and the researchers will monitor your recovery closely. This trial is currently recruiting participants of all genders, and being part of it could contribute to better care for older patients undergoing surgery.
