ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether taking an oral antibiotic called doxycycline can help prevent infections in the bloodstream after dental procedures, particularly for patients who may be at risk of developing a serious infection known as endocarditis. Endocarditis can occur when bacteria enter the bloodstream and affect the heart, so finding effective ways to prevent it is very important, especially after dental extractions.
To be eligible for this trial, participants should be between 18 and 75 years old and must have at least 10 teeth, as well as a need for a dental extraction under general anesthesia. The trial is open to all genders and does not consider the severity of dental disease. However, people who have recently taken antibiotics, have certain allergies, or have specific medical conditions may not be able to participate. If you join the trial, you can expect to receive doxycycline and be monitored for any potential effects. This study may help improve guidelines for preventing infections after dental work in the future.
