ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different treatments to help control gagging in children. The researchers want to see how effective low-level laser acupuncture is compared to microcurrent electrical stimulation in reducing the gag reflex, which can be a problem during dental visits or other medical procedures. The trial is currently looking for children between the ages of 2 and 4 who have moderate to severe gagging but are otherwise healthy.
To participate, children must be able to tolerate a dental impression, which is when a mold is made of their teeth. They should also have a specific behavioral score indicating they can handle the procedure. Parents or guardians will need to give written consent for their child to join the study. However, children taking certain medications for nausea or those who have allergies to the materials used in the impression will not be eligible. If your child meets these criteria, they may be able to take part in this important study that could help improve their comfort during dental care.
