ClinConnect Summary
The "Approach to Dance for Autism" trial is studying how a recreational ballet program can help children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The research team wants to see if this program can improve motor skills, as well as social, psychological, and behavioral skills in children aged 7 to 12 who have a confirmed diagnosis of ASD and can speak either English or Spanish. The study will include 24 participants, and all children will take part in a 12-week ballet program designed specifically for kids with ASD by a non-profit organization that has over ten years of experience in this area.
To participate, children must be between 7 and 12 years old, diagnosed with ASD, and speak English or Spanish. They should also be able to attend at least 8 out of the 12 ballet classes. The children will be divided into two groups: one will take the ballet classes while the other will wait and take them later. Throughout the study, caregivers will fill out questionnaires to help the researchers understand the impact of the ballet program. This research aims to gather valuable information that could shape future activities and treatments for children with ASD.
