ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how long stays in psychiatric hospitals and the use of compulsory care affect people with borderline personality disorder (BPD), especially regarding self-harm and suicide. Researchers want to understand if these different treatment approaches lead to better or worse outcomes in terms of how often individuals seek help for self-harm or suicide attempts after their hospital stay. The study will involve 78 psychiatric clinics in Sweden that can provide compulsory care, and each clinic will be considered a separate participant based on the year they provided treatment.
To be eligible for this study, a clinic must be authorized to give compulsory care to adults. Participants will not be individuals but rather the clinics themselves, and their impact will be measured over time using national health records. The study aims to compare clinics with different practices to see which methods might help reduce self-harm and suicide rates in people with BPD. This trial is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to provide valuable insights into the best ways to support individuals struggling with these challenges.
