ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking to find out if people with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), like Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, can manage their health better and feel more in control when they have regular communication with their healthcare team through text messages. Researchers will compare two groups: one group will receive regular text messages that not only provide education about IBD but also allow them to report their symptoms and ask questions directly to their medical team. The other group will only get educational text messages. The study will also explore how different social factors, like support systems and living conditions, affect patients’ symptoms and overall quality of life.
To participate in this trial, you need to be at least 13 years old, have a diagnosed form of IBD, and have visited a participating clinic in the past year. You should also be comfortable using a mobile phone for text messaging and able to read and respond to surveys in English or Spanish. If you join, you can expect to complete five short online surveys over a year, receive educational texts about IBD, and, if you’re in the first group, participate in regular symptom-check surveys and communicate directly with your healthcare team via text. This trial is currently looking for participants, so if you meet the criteria and are interested, it might be a good opportunity to get involved in your health management!
