ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is exploring whether taking fish oil supplements can help improve heart health and insulin levels in women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Women with PCOS often have higher levels of testosterone, which can lead to issues like insulin resistance (where the body doesn’t use insulin effectively) and unhealthy blood fat levels. The study will look at how fish oil, combined with the standard treatment metformin, can be a safe and helpful way to manage these health concerns, especially for those who may also have Type 2 Diabetes.

To participate in this trial, women must have a diagnosis of PCOS, be overweight or obese (with a body mass index over 25), and have certain blood test results indicating issues with cholesterol or insulin levels. Unfortunately, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding cannot join. Although the trial is not yet recruiting participants, those who do take part can expect to receive guidance and support as they explore the potential benefits of fish oil for their heart and overall health.
