ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking to find out which method of pain relief is more effective for women recovering from major gynecological cancer surgeries: an epidural block or an erector spinae plane block. Both techniques are used to help manage pain after surgery, but researchers want to see if one works better than the other. They will measure how much pain patients feel, how much medication they need after surgery, and how quickly they can start moving around again.
To participate in this trial, women aged 30 to 70 who are scheduled for open abdominal surgery and are in good health (specifically classified as ASA II-III) can be considered. Participants will need to be able to understand and follow instructions. However, those with more serious health issues, allergies to the pain medication used in the blocks, or certain other conditions won't be eligible. If you join the trial, you can expect to receive one of the two pain relief methods and be monitored during your recovery to help researchers gather important information about the best ways to manage postoperative pain.
