ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is comparing two types of weight loss surgery: laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) and robotic sleeve gastrectomy (RSG). The main focus is on understanding which method leads to less pain after surgery, and how both surgeries affect the quality of life for patients. Researchers will also look at other important factors, like recovery results 30 days after the surgery, any complications that might arise, and how much weight patients lose in the year following the surgery.
To participate in this study, patients must meet certain criteria. They should be eligible for the surgery based on guidelines from the National Institute of Health (NIH), be able to give their consent, and be cleared by their doctor for this elective surgery. Unfortunately, individuals who have had previous weight loss surgeries or have been using opioids regularly for at least three months cannot join. All surgeries will take place at the Cleveland Clinic Bariatric and Metabolic Institute, and the trial is currently looking for volunteers. Participants can expect to play a role in advancing medical knowledge while also receiving care for their weight loss journey.
