ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the impact of a new, faster test for determining which antibiotics are effective against bacteria in the blood, specifically for patients with Enterobacterales bacteremia. Bacteremia means that bacteria are present in the bloodstream, which can lead to serious health issues. In this trial, researchers are looking to see if using a rapid antibiotic susceptibility test can help doctors adjust antibiotic treatments more quickly, ideally within 8 hours of identifying the bacteria, rather than waiting for the standard 24-hour test results. This could lead to better treatment outcomes, reduce the use of broad-spectrum antibiotics, and potentially shorten hospital stays.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be at least 18 years old, hospitalized with a positive blood culture for Enterobacterales, and able to give consent. The trial is currently recruiting participants and aims to confirm the benefits of this rapid testing method across multiple hospitals. If eligible and enrolled, participants can expect to receive antibiotic therapy that is tailored more quickly to their specific needs, which can improve their overall treatment experience.
