ClinConnect Summary
The CONSCIUS study is researching how the brain behaves in patients who have had an acute brain injury and are having trouble being conscious or may be experiencing seizures. The goal is to use special electrodes placed in the brain to learn more about the brain's activity and how it relates to a person's ability to respond. This study is important because it could help us understand more about consciousness and potentially improve care for patients who are unresponsive.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be 18 years or older and have any type of brain injury that affects their consciousness or may include seizures. Those who are pregnant, under 18 years old, or have certain health conditions that could make participation unsafe will not be included. If someone decides to participate, they can expect to have electrodes implanted to monitor their brain activity, which will help researchers gather valuable information. The study is currently recruiting participants, and it aims to shed light on the connections within the brain that contribute to consciousness and responsiveness.
