Cardiac Amyloidosis Heart Failure With Left Ventricular Hypertrophy Positive Bone Scintigraphy

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking to find out how common a condition called cardiac amyloidosis is in older patients, specifically those aged 80 and above, who have been hospitalized for heart failure in the past year. Cardiac amyloidosis is a disease where abnormal proteins build up in the heart, making it hard for the heart to work properly. To participate, individuals need to have had heart failure and specific changes in their heart seen on an ultrasound, known as left ventricular hypertrophy, which means their heart's walls are thicker than normal.

If you or a loved one is interested in this study, you must be at least 80 years old and have been in the hospital for heart failure recently. Participants will undergo some tests, including a special scan called a bone scintigraphy, to help researchers learn more about this condition. The trial is actively recruiting participants, and it is important to note that those who refuse to participate or have already been diagnosed with cardiac amyloidosis will not be eligible. This study hopes to gather important information that could improve the understanding and treatment of heart conditions in older adults.
