ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how genes in the placenta change during different stages of pregnancy, specifically during the first trimester and at full-term delivery. Researchers want to understand the way these genes work at a very detailed level, using a new method that allows them to look at single cells within the placenta. This research could help improve our understanding of pregnancy and placental health.

To participate in this study, women aged 18 to 50 who are between 11 and 15 weeks pregnant with a single baby may be eligible. Participants must have a medical reason for needing a test called a chorionic villus biopsy, which helps assess genetic conditions, and they should be scheduled to deliver at Port-Royal Maternity Hospital. If you join the study, you will provide small samples of the placenta for analysis. While the study is currently not recruiting participants, it aims to gather important information about how the placenta functions during pregnancy, which could benefit future mothers and babies.
