Chronic Kidney Disease Vegetables Hyperkalemia

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying whether providing low-potassium vegetables to individuals with chronic kidney disease (CKD) can help them meet the recommended daily intake of vegetables without increasing the risk of high potassium levels in the blood (known as hyperkalemia). Previous research suggests that eating more fruits and vegetables can lead to better health outcomes for people with CKD, but many of these patients tend to eat fewer vegetables than recommended.

To participate in this trial, you need to be at least 20 years old and have CKD stages 3b to 5, meaning your kidneys are not functioning well but you are not yet on dialysis. You should also have stable medication doses for at least four weeks and have a potassium level that falls within a specific range. Participants will receive low-potassium vegetables and will be monitored to ensure their potassium levels remain safe while they work towards increasing their vegetable intake. This study aims to help improve dietary habits for those with CKD, promoting better health and potentially reducing the risks associated with their condition.
