ClinConnect Summary
The INFRAGEN clinical trial is studying how infections affect frailty in older patients who are hospitalized. Frailty means being more vulnerable to health problems and can be influenced by factors like inflammation and genetic changes. This study will look at patients admitted to the hospital with infections to see how these infections impact their health over time, specifically focusing on changes in their frailty levels during their hospital stay and three months later.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be older adults who have a confirmed infection when they are admitted to the hospital but are not severely frail before their admission. Those with a higher level of frailty or terminal illnesses will not be included. Participants can expect to provide information about their health and undergo some assessments during their hospital stay and three months afterward. This study aims to better understand how infections can lead to frailty, helping to identify patients who may need extra support to maintain their health.
