ClinConnect Summary
The Early Robotic Gait Training After Stroke (ERA Stroke) trial is studying how effective robotic gait training (RGT) is compared to usual care (UC) for helping people recover their walking ability after a stroke. This trial is specifically for patients who are in the subacute phase of recovery, which means they are starting to regain function but may still need significant support. The research is taking place at the Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation, and they are currently looking for participants.
To be eligible for this trial, individuals must be between 18 and 85 years old and have had any type of stroke. They should be medically stable and actively participating in rehabilitation at the facility. Participants need to have the ability to set goals for their walking recovery and must be able to manage bladder and bowel functions. Importantly, people with other serious neurological conditions, significant cognitive issues, or who are pregnant cannot participate. Those who join the trial can expect to engage in both robotic training sessions and standard rehabilitation practices, providing a unique opportunity to see how advanced technology might improve their recovery.
