ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how certain factors affect the recovery of patients who have had surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in their knee. Specifically, the study will explore how feelings of fear about movement (called kinesiophobia), knee function, pain levels, and other clinical measures like swelling and muscle strength relate to a condition known as prolonged arthrogenic muscle responses (AMR). AMR is an unconscious muscle reaction that can happen after an injury, and the researchers want to see if patients with higher fear or pain levels experience AMR for a longer time.
If you are between 18 and 40 years old and have recently suffered an ACL rupture, you may be eligible to participate in this trial at AZ Delta hospital in Roeselare. Participants will need to complete several questionnaires about their knee function, activity levels, and pain before their surgery and again at one and three months afterward. Five months post-surgery, they will also undergo some physical tests to measure muscle responses during jumping tasks. This study aims to better understand ACL recovery to help improve rehabilitation approaches for future patients.
