ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a brief intervention can help young adults reduce their spending and time spent on alcohol, as well as decrease their alcohol consumption and related problems. The trial will include 150 participants aged 21 to 29 who live in Washington state and drink alcohol regularly. To participate, individuals must report drinking at least two days a week and have experienced several heavy drinking episodes in the past month. Those currently enrolled in a four-year college or receiving treatment for alcohol use are not eligible.
Participants will be randomly assigned to either receive the intervention or just complete surveys without additional support. Over three weeks, everyone will fill out daily surveys about their alcohol use, personal goals, and how they spend their money. Those in the intervention group will receive weekly updates on their alcohol-related habits. After the three weeks, all participants will complete follow-up surveys at one and three months later. By participating and completing all study components, individuals can earn up to $126. This trial aims to better understand how to help young adults manage their alcohol use and its impact on their lives.
