ClinConnect Summary
The CHAMPION trial is studying the best ways to help children who are overweight and also have asthma. The program offers two options: one where kids and their caregivers meet in person for support, and another where they can participate entirely online through telehealth. The goal is to see which method is more effective in helping these children improve their health and manage their asthma better.
To be eligible for this study, children must be between 6 and 17 years old, have a body mass index (BMI) at or above the 85th percentile, and have a diagnosis of asthma. Caregivers of these children need to be at least 18 years old and speak either English or Spanish. Participants can expect to receive support and guidance focused on healthier lifestyle choices and asthma management, whether they choose in-person meetings or online sessions. It's important to know that children with certain conditions, like anorexia, or those whose families are planning to change doctors soon, cannot participate in this trial.
