ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how body weight, measured by Body Mass Index (BMI), affects the success of knee replacement surgery (called Knee Arthroplasty or KA) in patients who have previously undergone weight loss surgery (known as Bariatric Surgery or BAS). Researchers want to understand if a patient’s weight at the time of their knee surgery influences the likelihood of needing another surgery later (called revision surgery) or experiencing complications related to the knee implant, such as infections. By focusing on different BMI levels, the trial aims to provide clearer insights into how weight influences outcomes for these patients.
To participate in this study, individuals must be between the ages of 65 and 74 and need knee replacement surgery due to arthritis (a joint condition). However, those who require knee replacement because of an injury would not be included. While the trial is currently active, it is not recruiting new participants at this time. If you qualify and participate in this study, you can expect to contribute to important research that could help improve outcomes for future patients undergoing knee surgery after weight loss surgery.
