ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether giving antibiotics before an endoscopic procedure can help prevent further bleeding in patients with liver cirrhosis who have previously experienced gastroesophageal variceal bleeding, which is bleeding from swollen veins in the esophagus or stomach. The goal is to find out if these antibiotics are really necessary for keeping patients safe during this type of procedure.
The trial is looking for participants aged between 65 and 74 who have a history of bleeding from gastroesophageal varices and are being readmitted for a follow-up endoscopic treatment. To join, patients need to agree to participate and sign an informed consent form. However, those with allergies to certain antibiotics, existing infections or fever prior to the procedure, or low white blood cell counts will not be eligible. If you decide to participate, you will receive detailed information about the study and what to expect during the process. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and your involvement could help improve care for others in similar situations.
