ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how well ultrasound can be used to check the position of a special type of catheter called an epicutaneous-caval catheter (ECC) in newborns. The goal is to see if the catheter moves from its original position after being placed. This is important because if the catheter shifts, it may not work as intended. The study will involve taking ultrasound images of the catheter's tip right after it is placed, and then again at different times over the next week to monitor any changes.
To participate in this study, newborns who need an ECC placed will be eligible, as long as they do not have any major birth defects. Parents or guardians will need to give their consent before their child can join. The trial is expected to last about a year, and at least 20 cases will be collected from each participating center. By joining this study, families can help researchers understand how to better use ultrasound for monitoring catheters in newborns.
