ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Passive Thoughts in Functional Movement Disorders," is looking to understand how mind-wandering, or passive thoughts, works in individuals with Functional Movement Disorder (FMD). FMD causes unusual movements or difficulty walking that aren't linked to any physical injury in the brain or nerves. The study aims to see how the way people with FMD experience mind-wandering differs from those who are healthy, focusing on a specific part of the brain that is important for our sense of control over our actions.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be diagnosed with FMD by a neurologist and be able to read and understand English. Unfortunately, those who have dementia or cannot read English will not be eligible. Participants will be asked to complete a questionnaire called the Mind Excessively Wandering Scale (MEWS) to help researchers learn more about their experiences with passive thoughts. This study is not yet recruiting, but it promises to shed light on how mind-wandering relates to FMD, which could lead to better understanding and treatment options in the future.
