ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a specific breathing technique, called the 4-7-8 breathing technique, can help reduce pain and nausea after bariatric surgery, which is a type of weight loss surgery. The researchers will invite 60 patients who are having this surgery to participate. After surgery, participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. One group will practice the breathing technique for a few minutes every hour, while the other group will receive standard care without any special breathing exercises. The study will track how each group feels in terms of pain and nausea during their first day in the hospital.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be between 18 and 65 years old and undergoing specific types of laparoscopic surgeries. Certain people will not be able to participate, including those with serious neurological issues or those who are transferred to intensive care after surgery. If you choose to take part in this study, you will receive guidance on how to do the breathing technique and will be monitored closely to see how well it works in managing your post-surgery discomfort.
