ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focusing on improving surgical techniques for patients with rectal cancer. The researchers want to create a tool that helps doctors determine which patients are at higher risk for complications during surgery, particularly those with tumors in the middle and lower parts of the rectum. By identifying these patients beforehand, the goal is to choose the best surgical approach—whether laparoscopic (minimally invasive) or open surgery—to ensure better outcomes in terms of the quality of the tissue removed and the safety of the procedure.
To participate in this trial, you need to be at least 18 years old and scheduled for a specific type of surgery called anterior resection for rectal cancer. You should have a diagnosis of adenocarcinoma, which is a common type of rectal cancer, and your cancer should be at an initial stage (T1-T4a). However, if your cancer is more advanced or if you have other specific conditions, you may not be eligible. Participants in the trial will help researchers gather important information that could lead to better surgical strategies and ultimately improve care for future patients with rectal cancer.
