ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on understanding the risks that farmworkers in Imperial County, California, face from heat and chemical exposures while they work. The researchers want to measure how much heat and harmful chemicals these workers are exposed to both in the fields and at home. To do this, participants will wear special devices, like a belt that tracks heat and a wristband that detects chemicals, for a week. They will also provide urine samples to check hydration and have some basic health measures taken, like height, weight, and blood pressure. After gathering this information, community health workers will help participants find ways to reduce their exposure to heat and chemicals.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be currently living and working in agriculture in Imperial County and plan to stay in the area for at least six months. The study is open to all adults aged 65 to 74 who meet these criteria. Participants can expect to meet with researchers twice in their homes for tool distribution and follow-up questions. After the intervention, the researchers will check again to see if there were any improvements. This trial not only aims to gather important data but also to provide support to workers in making their environment safer.
