ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring a treatment called repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) to see if it can improve balance and cognitive function in people with dementia or memory loss. The study will compare two different locations in the brain where rTMS is applied to find out which one is more effective for helping with balance. This is important because improving balance can help prevent falls, which are a major concern for older adults and can lead to serious injuries and increased healthcare costs.
To be eligible for the trial, participants should be at least 50 years old and have a diagnosis of dementia or memory loss. They need to have some ability to communicate and understand instructions in English, either on their own or with the help of a caregiver. Participants should also be able to walk or stand with some support if needed. However, there are some health conditions, like having a pacemaker or a history of seizures, that would prevent someone from participating. If you join the study, you'll be part of important research that could help improve care for individuals with dementia in the future.
