ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at how using videos during the consent process can help parents better understand and make decisions about participating in a study on extremely preterm infants. Specifically, the study focuses on parents of infants born before 28 weeks of pregnancy or weighing less than 1000 grams, who are being treated at Children's Memorial Hermann hospital. The main goal is to see if videos can make it easier for parents to understand the information and feel empowered when deciding whether to join the ViDES study, which is exploring the benefits of Vitamin D supplements for these vulnerable babies.

If you are a parent or legal guardian of an extremely preterm infant in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, you might be eligible to participate. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and those who take part will have the chance to see a video that explains the study details before giving their consent. However, parents who are deaf or blind, or who cannot provide consent, will not be able to participate. This trial is important because it could improve how information is shared with families, ultimately helping them make informed choices about their child’s care.
