ClinConnect Summary
The Barts Charity Children's Environmental Health Clinic is a research study aimed at understanding how environmental factors affect children with chronic respiratory conditions, such as asthma. The study will involve children aged 4 to 17 who have been diagnosed with a respiratory issue and are referred by their pediatric asthma team. Participants will have their personal environments monitored, including assessments of their homes, to see what they are exposed to in their everyday lives. After gathering this information, the researchers will provide personalized reports that outline these exposures and suggest ways to reduce them. Participants will then be monitored again to see how effective these strategies are in improving their health.
To be eligible for this study, a parent or guardian must be able to give written consent, and the child must be willing to participate and able to use the technology involved. They also need to be reachable for follow-ups and have a reasonable understanding of English. It’s important to note that this study is not currently recruiting participants, but once it begins, it aims to provide valuable insights into how we can better support children's respiratory health by managing their environmental exposures.
