ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the dietary habits of older adults who have had hip surgery due to fractures. Researchers want to see if these patients are getting enough energy from their food in the days following their surgery, specifically from the day of surgery through day three. They will also look at whether how much these patients eat affects how long they stay in the hospital, if they have other health conditions that might impact their eating, and if their dietary intake is linked to any complications after surgery, like infections or pressure sores.
To join this study, participants must be adults over 60 years old who have a confirmed hip fracture that needs surgical repair. However, those with certain types of fractures from accidents or who are undergoing cancer treatment won't be eligible. Participants can expect to have their food intake tracked during their hospital stay, contributing to important information that could help improve care for future patients with similar conditions.
