The "You, Me and Nature Pilot Study" is a clinical trial designed to explore how spending time in nature can help people living with mild cognitive impairment or dementia. The study focuses on a caregiver-led program where caregivers, who are family members or friends, guide participants through nature-based activities over eight weeks. This program has been created with input from individuals living with dementia, their caregivers, and healthcare professionals. The goal is to see if this nature-based approach can benefit those involved and to gather information that may support larger studies in the future.
To participate in this study, individuals must be at least 18 years old and have a self-reported diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment or dementia. They should also have a caregiver who is willing to join the study as well. Participants will fill out some questionnaires, attend a training session, and engage in weekly nature activities together. The study will also include check-ins from the researcher and an optional interview about their experiences. It's important to note that this study is not yet recruiting participants, and it focuses only on individuals living in the community, not those in nursing or care homes.

Eligibility criteria
- Inclusion Criteria:
- • People living with dementia or mild cognitive impairment (PLWD/MCI)
- • Self-reported diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment or dementia (any subtype)
- • 18 years old or over
- • Has capacity to consent
- • Willing to follow the sessions in the manual
- • Has a caregiver (family/friend/supporter) that is also willing to take part in the study
- • Currently residing in the community (e.g. own home, supported accommodation)
- • Sufficient command of English to complete questionnaires and to take part in the intervention
- • Supporter/caregiver
- • An unpaid or informal caregiver, who is caring for a person living with a self-reported diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment or dementia (any subtype) i.e. has at least weekly contact together.
- • 18 years old or over
- • Has capacity to consent
- • The person that they are supporting/caring for is also willing to take part in the study
- • Willing to deliver the sessions in the manual
- • Willing and able to attend a one-off online caregiver intervention-delivery training session using video conferencing software.
- • Currently residing in the community (e.g. own home, supported accommodation)
- • Sufficient command of English to complete questionnaires and to deliver the intervention
