ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to adjust the dosage of levothyroxine, a medication that helps people whose thyroid gland isn't working properly. Typically, finding the right dose can take a long time—sometimes several months. Researchers have created a tool that helps doctors predict the best dosage based on blood tests taken during the first two weeks of treatment after surgery to remove the thyroid. They want to see if using this tool can help patients get the right dose faster compared to the usual method, which involves adjusting the dose every two months.
To participate in this study, individuals must have had total thyroid removal due to thyroid cancer or benign thyroid nodules at a hospital in Norway. People with certain types of aggressive thyroid cancer or other specific conditions, like pregnancy, cannot join. Participants will have their blood tested frequently during the first two weeks and will provide feedback on how they feel and their ability to work. This trial aims to improve the way thyroid hormone replacement therapy is managed to help patients feel better sooner.
