ClinConnect Summary
The Xishui Project is a clinical trial designed to study the effects of a treatment called IDM on patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), especially those who also have conditions like high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes. The trial will include about 4,000 stable COPD patients, with around half of them also dealing with these additional health issues. The main goal is to see how this treatment affects lung function over a period of 24 weeks, specifically looking at a measure called FEV1, which indicates how much air a person can exhale in one second.
To participate in this trial, individuals need to be at least 40 years old, have a confirmed diagnosis of COPD, and be living in Xishui for at least a year. They can have other health conditions like diabetes or hypertension. However, those with severe cognitive issues or who can’t perform daily activities on their own are not eligible. The trial is not open for recruitment yet, but once it starts, participants can expect regular check-ins to monitor their health and progress throughout the study.
