ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how well a specific surgery called laparoscopic cholecystectomy works for patients with acute cholecystitis, which is an inflammation of the gallbladder. The study will compare outcomes for patients who have this surgery within the first 72 hours of developing symptoms to those who have the surgery after this time frame. By understanding these differences, doctors hope to improve treatment for patients with this condition.
To be eligible for the trial, participants must be 18 years or older and diagnosed with acute cholecystitis, either within or after 72 hours of their symptoms starting. They should not have any stones in the common bile duct and must be fit for surgery. However, patients who are not well enough for surgery or have other serious health issues, like uncontrolled diabetes or significant heart disease, will not be included. If you participate, you can expect to receive care related to your surgery and be part of a study that aims to provide valuable insights for future treatments.
